Lucid Dreaming was a concept brought up and eventually used in The Mart. It is the act of tricking oneself to realize they're dreaming and thus have control over their dreamscape.

Mrs. Villavicencio was apparently a fan of lucid dreaming, as she practiced it to herself while chanting a manta to herself so she'd realize when she was asleep. This was the same technique Teodora Villavicencio would go on to teach Leo in order to help him defeat Nicht Mart.
